The importance of following correct procedure

For the month of May, we are taking a break from our series "A Call for Change: Addressing the Shortcomings of CSOS." in order to focus on an important judgment handed down by the South Gauteng High Court where a member of a body corporate was ordered to demolish a pergola installed onto the common property. Auren's article, below, provides further insights into this case, emphasising the consequences faced by owners who choose to erect alterations without consent. This judgment also confirms that under exceptional circumstances an applicant may bypass the CSOS.
