A Call for Change: Reader feedback
This month also sees the release of the second edition of our series, "A Call for Change: Addressing the Shortcomings of CSOS." In our first instalment, we highlighted CSOS’s struggle to interpret section 3(1)(c) of the Sectional Titles Schemes Management Act and the resulting impact on sectional title schemes.
After inviting feedback from our readers, we received an astonishing number of responses highlighting various issues encountered with CSOS. We hope to address each of these concerns throughout our series. For now, here's an overview of the most frequently mentioned problems that our readers have encountered when dealing with the CSOS:
- A lack of response to emails.
- Inoperative switchboards and unattended phone lines.
- Excessive delays in resolving dispute applications, with Adjudication Orders taking anywhere from 10 to 14 months post-application submission.
- Frustration over adjudication hearings not being conducted face-to-face.
- Concerns over the poor quality of Adjudication Orders.
- Neglect in distributing submissions to all relevant parties during the adjudication process.
- Challenges in registering schemes with CSOS, described by some as a near-impossible feat.
- Technical glitches within the CSOS Connect Online Platform, affecting its usability.
We thank you for all of the experiences shared so far and invite you to continue sharing your frustrations with us at info@theadvisory.co.za as we explore these issues further. You can read Part 2 in this series under our article links below.
Kind regards
The Advisory Team
